Where Craft Meets Respect
At The Hook Shop, we’ve always been drawn to people who value craft as much as we do — those who care about process, purpose, and the stories behind what they create. That’s exactly what drew us to Farmstead Meatsmith.
Founded by Brandon Sheard in Washington, Farmstead Meatsmith is part school, part philosophy — a celebration of whole-animal butchery done with care and intention. Their work brings people closer to the origin of their food and the skill behind traditional meatcraft.
A Shared Philosophy
There’s something timeless about doing things by hand. Whether it’s shaping a blade, restoring an old tool, or teaching a forgotten skill, both our communities believe in taking the time to do things right.
Farmstead Meatsmith’s thoughtful approach — from farm to table, and from knowledge to practice — reflects the same values that guide us every day at The Hook Shop: respect for materials, for process, and for people.
Learning From the Old Ways
The beauty of traditional craft lies in its honesty. It doesn’t chase trends or shortcuts — it simply values what works, what lasts, and what connects us.
That’s what makes Farmstead Meatsmith so inspiring. Their workshops and philosophy remind us that craftsmanship is not just about the end product, but about preserving the knowledge that keeps communities connected.
Keeping Craft Alive, Together
We admire the way Farmstead Meatsmith continues to teach, inspire, and keep tradition relevant. In our own way, we aim to do the same — by celebrating makers, supporting artisans, and passing on the stories behind the tools and hands that make them.
